In a ramshackle hut, you’ll find the chef cooking jerk chicken or pork over a steel drum. We waited for our meal at the bar drinking Red Stripe, listening to Reggae in the background. There’s lots of thatched-roof huts inside and booths to hang out at. You get your food wrapped in tin foil. The jerk chicken and pork are moist and the sauce was hot. The best surprise, however, is “festival,” a sweetened bread alongside our meal.

Doctor’s Cave Bathing Club-Montego bay

Doctors Cave Beach Club is a lot more than just a great beach. It was here that the curative nature of the waters was often recommended for those who needed that bit of tropical sun, sea and sand. Doctors Cave Beach is located in the middle of Montego Bay’s “Hip Strip” Gloucester Avenue. Although many other beaches have some of the qualities of Doctor’s Cave, none have all of them. The warm Caribbean waters, immaculately kept grounds, and clean sanitary facilities have made Doctors Cave a great choice for visitors. The Sand Restaurant and Bar provide a great variety of meals and drinks. Come and enjoy Doctors Cave beach on your next visit to Montego Bay! The beach is also a part of the Montego Bay Marine Park which has a wide variety of marine life among the coral reef.

Chukka Caribbean Adventures Montpelier Jungle-St. James

Montpelier Jungle Outpost sits on a large estate rich in history. In the 18th century, this location was used as a sugarcane plantation by the British. A short hike on the estate will reveal the wonderful Montpelier waterfall and the beautiful Great River, Jamaica’s fourth longest river. From this estate, you can get a bird’s eye view from the treetops as you zipline through the jungle or river tube or kayak down the river that separates the two parishes of St. James and Hanover. However you choose to experience Montpelier – it’s going to be great fun!

Rose Hall Great House-Montego bay

The White Witch awaits you in the great house at Rose Hall. Dead more than a century, Annie Palmer still stirs memories of her reign as the mistress of the Rose Hall Great House. Cursed by slaves, the White Witch Annie Palmer, turned a magnificent plantation into a hellhouse of atrocities. Countless slaves fell prey to her torture, and all three of her husbands met their death at her hands. The Great House is but one of many attractions on the 6,600-acre Rose Hall Plantation. Here, visitors can experience the complete spectrum of island living-mountain villages, cane fields, luxury villas, resort hotels and condominiums, miles of beautiful beaches and well-maintained golf courses.

Rastafari Indigenous Village-Montego bay

Rastafari is rightly associated with Jamaica, for the religion was born here in the 1930’s. Rastafari is an Abrahamic faith that adheres to much of The Bible, though Rastafaris worship Haile Selassie I, former emperor of Ethiopia. Arguably the best-known Rastafari is the late Bob Marley. The international star introduced much of the world to the tenets of Rastafari, including the smoking of ganja (marijuana), which the Rasta consider a spiritual act. The sacramental smoking of ganja became legal in Jamaica in April 2015. While many Rastas choose not to cut their hair, and wear dreadlocks, it is not an absolute for believers.
