The tiny village of Middle Quarters, just outside of Black River, is famous all over Jamaica for one thing – “Pepper Shrimp”. Groups of higglers line the road tempting passing travellers with bags of bright red spicy pepper shrimp. From their simple stalls (usually Dutch pots boiling on open grills and plastic bowls full of shrimp, set about a creaky wooden table) they sell one of the tastiest snacks available on the island.
