Treasure Beach is a sleepy fishing village on the southwestern shore of Jamaica. You won’t find large hotels or nightclubs here, but you will find hammocks and deserted beaches for a relaxed and authentic travel experience. The beach area includes four bays with strong currents and surf. For a bit of activity, take a gentle hike along the footpaths. The town has a few small bars and restaurants serving authentic Jamaican food. For an adventure, travel along the coast between Treasure Village and the Black River to the Pelican Bar. Getting there is a bit of a challenge, as the bar is one-quarter mile offshore, built on stilts on a sand bar. Local fishermen will ferry you out to the bar to sunbathe, drink beer, swim and eat fried fish
